James Miller is the sole artist behind Harvey Cane & Hugo Slave. He is a composer, arranger and producer experimenting with Hip-Hop and other external ideas. Creating a new genre, Slip-Hop, James has developed Harvey Cane and Hugo Slave to help personify different aspects behind his creations, allowing them to explore different areas within and outside the genre.
Focusing on beat and melodic syncopation, the pieces are held together with newly created sonic objects and textures in the background.
Convolving syncopated and straight beats, Harvey Cane brings the element of groove and pounding thumps to the dance floor. He creates a two-layered atmosphere that has one half of body bouncing to one rhythm and the other half simultaneously jiving to another.
Hugo Slave brings you the melodies that soothes the ear. Utilising extended scratching techniques, he has developed a new style of simultaneous forward and reverse melodic playback that creates entirely different sounds that any ear has stumbled upon.
